I
have always admired i-D magazine and believe Terry Jones, through i-D, has had
an incredible impact at the cutting edge of fashion and creativity, pioneering
the concept of mixing high fashion with street style. i-D by showcasing so much
new talent has built an important archive chronicling the last 20 years
Giorgio Armani, designer
i-D was a magazine for the people, put together on a shoestring budget,
and the first issues were sold out of the trunk of a car. Its mission was to
demystify fashion and bring it to the street people. Its a great sign
of success that
the public response has turned i-D into one of the most highly regarded fashion
magazines. And, despite all the popularity, its still such an original
magazine. The winking cover is a very cool concept. Also, because i-D hasnt
got a fraction of the budget other fashion magazines do, it permanently needs
to reinvent itself, find new resources and channels to get the message across.
That keeps
i-D ambitious, versatile and young
