Celebrating in true Brazilian spirit, the i-Dentity exhibition hit São Paulo just in time for the new year 2006. With Capirinhas flowing like water and sambas shaking, i-D rocked its way through a swathe of tanned limbs, creative charisma and über apparel celebrating an array of exotic talent and entrepreneurial passion to correspond with Latin America’s most exciting fashion week. Photographs and editorials from i-D’s archives shook the walls of Fundação Biennale de São Paulo, one of Niemeyer’s most revered buildings. With generous and applauded sponsorship by i-D long time faves Diesel, Symrise and SPFW, the gala night consisted of glitzy champagne cocktails, Latino glamour and all round good times. Amongst those gleefully shaking their stuff were actors Jonathan Haagensen (City of God) and Alice Braga, i-D cover star Luciana Curtis, Alexandre Herchcovitch, artist and i-Dentity contributor Mana Bernardes, Diesel Brazil’s very own Esber Hajli, fashion editor and gallerist Erika Palomino and top leggy beauty, and model Michele Alves. All more than ready to strike a pose against Terry Jones’ Brazilian-themed backdrops - two dazzling compositions of Brazilian stories and shoots from i-D’s pages.
